Mastering LPBF Simulations with FLOW-3D AM: From Physics to Process Optimization
Additive manufacturing is rapidly transforming the way complex metal components are designed and produced. Among various techniques, Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) stands out for its ability to manufacture high-precision parts—but it also comes with challenges such as porosity, lack of fusion, distortion, and residual stresses.
This hands-on workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of LPBF process physics and demonstrate how FLOW-3D AM can be used to simulate, analyze, and optimize the process. The workshop will combine theoretical concepts with practical demonstrations, enabling participants to confidently apply simulation-driven approaches to their additive manufacturing workflows.
Participants will learn how to:
- Set up LPBF simulations using FLOW-3D AM
- Model laser-material interaction and melt pool dynamics
- Predict common defects such as porosity and balling
- Analyze thermal gradients and solidification behavior
- Optimize process parameters for improved build quality
- Interpret simulation results for real-world decision-making
Who Should Attend
- Engineers and researchers working in additive manufacturing
- Professionals involved in LPBF process development and optimization
- Simulation engineers looking to expand into metal AM
